Unknown Company is hiring an Assistant Director of Athletic Strategic Communications

Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics is hiring an Assistant Director of Athletic Strategic Communications. You will serve as the primary communications and social media contact for field hockey, women’s lacrosse, and women’s gymnastics, and as the secondary contact for women’s basketball. The role involves managing strategic communications, game operations, and statistics for your assigned sports.

What You'll Do

• Manage website content and administer social media platforms for assigned sports.
• Develop written content such as features and press releases.
• Perform traditional strategic communications functions including coordinating media interviews, developing game notes, and pitching stories.
• Assist with awards nominations for student-athletes and athletics staff.
• Develop and maintain record books for assigned sports.
• Issue and distribute media credentials.
• Conduct postgame press conferences.
• Manage press box operations and coordinate with marketing, event management, and LionVision groups.
• Coordinate live updates to media and fans via live stats and social media platforms.
• Run stats programs, keep stats during competitions, and maintain statistical records throughout the season.
• Provide stats to media, coaches, and opponents throughout the season.

What We're Looking For

• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of NCAA rules and compliance.
• Considerable initiative, creativity, and independence.
• Work-related experience in communications or public relations.
• Valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check.
• Bachelor's Degree.
• For Marketing and Communications Specialist - Advanced Professional: 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• For Marketing and Communications Specialist - Intermediate Professional: 1+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice to Have

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, or a related field.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere, Spark, etc.), website content management systems, social media platforms, and Statcrew/NCAA Live Stats.
• Experience in photography, recording, and editing video.

• Salary range: $46,400.00 - $74,000.00
