Nordex SE is looking for an Assembly Operator - Mechanical Production Technician to directly support our mission of delivering 100% renewable energy. In this role, you will build the critical structural and mechanical components of our wind turbines, including nacelles, hubs, and drive trains, following established quality, safety, and environmental procedures.
What You'll Do
- Assemble mechanical components of wind turbines using hand tools, power tools, and overhead cranes.
- Follow detailed work instructions and engineering drawings to ensure accurate builds.
- Perform torquing, alignment, and fit-up of large components such as gearboxes, bearings, and shafts.
- Conduct safety inspections and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Complete specific tasks within designated timeframes to exceed production benchmarks.
- Handle materials by lifting, positioning, and/or removing them from the work area.
- Collaborate with quality and engineering teams to improve assembly processes.
- Participate in internal audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support other production areas as needed.
- Conduct root cause analysis and troubleshooting of potential production problems in coordination with PQA and Engineering.
- Assist electrical assembly operators as required.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical assembly or heavy manufacturing.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience.
- Commitment to safety and quality standards.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment.
- Strong work ethic and dedication to completing tasks.
- Responsible and accountable for actions and decisions.
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn and grow.
- Ability to read mechanical blueprints and technical documentation.
- Experience with overhead crane operation.
- Ability to achieve and maintain crane operator certification.
- Proficiency in using torque tools, pneumatic and hydraulic tools, and measuring instruments.
- Must be able to pass a respiratory fit test.
- Comfort with working at heights.
- Fluent spoken and written English to communicate safety information and collaborate with team.
Nice to Have
- Mechanical certifications or technical training.
- Experience in wind turbine, automotive, or industrial equipment assembly.
- Understanding of ISO 9000:2000 Quality System.
