The University of British Columbia (UBC) is seeking a professional to join our team and design and implement complex infrastructure projects using Infrastructure as Code and best practices. You will build and improve automation pipelines for the software development lifecycle and collaborate with teams across the world to improve platform health and security.
What You'll Do
- Design and implement complex infrastructure projects using IaC and best practices.
- Build and improve automation pipelines for the software development lifecycle.
- Participate in systems performance tuning and work on platform high availability.
- Continuously work on monitoring and observability tools.
- Tightly collaborate with application software engineers to improve platform health, performance, and security standards, assisting in architecture planning.
- Mitigate incidents, conduct postmortem investigations, and provide in-depth technical assistance for the customer support team.
What We're Looking For
- Linux administration and troubleshooting experience.
- Production experience with AWS or other cloud, with the willingness to learn AWS quickly.
- Strong experience with configuration management automation and IaC, preferably Ansible and Terraform.
- CI/CD stack management experience, including Jenkins, GitLab CI, and others.
- Solid understanding of shell scripting or Python.
- Experience with container management.
- Intermediate English proficiency for global collaboration.
Nice to Have
- Experience with containers orchestration such as Kubernetes or Nomad.
- Experience with metrics and logging solutions like ELK and Prometheus.
- Familiarity with distributed SQL and non-SQL databases.
- Experience working with and configuring Nginx, Kafka, CDN, and DDoS protection.
- Proven experience in leading projects from design to production.
