ARRISE is looking for a creative leader to join our award-winning team of game creators. In this role, you will be responsible for leading new arcade games from start to finish, working closely with the game production team to define, conceptualize, and iterate new game visions.
What You'll Do
- Work closely with the game production team to define, conceptualize, and iterate new game visions, including participating in design reviews, team meetings, and brainstorming sessions.
- Research competitive arcade games and determine the feature set for our arcade games.
- Lead new arcade games from start to finish, creating a full blueprint for game theme, narrative, animations, sequencing, structuring, and production.
- Present concepts clearly, concisely, and effectively to the team and to stakeholders.
- Execute upon concepts and established visions for arcade games, working with the game art director, art team, game producer, development team, and sound designers.
- Prepare tidy, thoughtful, and well-structured specifications for games and supervise their implementation.
- Provide quality control over design outputs and production.
- Assist the teams with questions about the game direction and to help guide the specifications.
- Adjust designs based on feedback from stakeholders or from broader technical challenges, constraints, or limitations.
- Provide feedback on other proposed designs and requirements within the team.
- Playtest games extensively to ensure implementation and playability match the vision.
- Define and evolve our game direction to weave consistency and familiarity throughout our universe of arcade titles.
- Discover how to incorporate elements of our branding into games and vice versa.
- Consider how arcade games fit into the broader design language of the business and potential for sequels or series.
- Develop creative concepts that meet the business objectives and advance our brand and proposition strategy.
- Research competitors to identify elements we may want to incorporate.
- Work to streamline our game production pipeline to reliably deliver high-quality, fully polished games at pace.
- Evaluate technologies that can help augment our game direction pipelines.
- Keep an eye on broader design trends and tools to ensure we are keeping up with best design practices.
- Provide thoughtful, considered feedback on the overall roadmap and design strategy.
What We're Looking For
- Must have worked in a game production capacity for designing social or real money gaming arcade games.
- Must understand the arcade/instant win landscape for real money gaming.
- Must have a clear understanding and respect for our players, knowing what they like and how to give them more.
- Must be able to polish every detail by weaving static artwork, animations & micro-animations, and music & sfx in a compelling and immersive way.
- Must understand how to produce clear specifications and guidelines that directly illustrate your vision and expected execution for new arcade games.
- Must be extremely comfortable working with different game production talent to visually develop conceptual mechanics and present them simply.
- Must be familiar with communicating excitement, anticipation, and relative value in a way easily understood by the player.
- Must understand technical constraints and creatively work around them when necessary.
- Must speak English natively or be completely fluent.
Nice to Have
- Having the ability to delve into graphic design, motion graphics, animation, or video outside of product and UI design is a plus.
- Ideally you will have some technical background or knowledge.
