Westpac New Zealand is hiring an Area Manager - Property Finance to lead a high-performing regional team. In this key leadership role, you will champion a collaborative culture and work with corporate banking to deliver strategic growth for our Institutional & Business Banking (IBB) division.
What You'll Do
- Lead, coach, and inspire your team to achieve high levels of engagement, capability, and performance.
- Embed strong risk management practices and ensure compliance across all activities.
- Manage workflow, capacity planning, and resource allocation to optimise team efficiency.
- Support the execution of corporate banking strategies and industry-specific initiatives.
- Drive exceptional customer experiences, including Net Promoter Score (NPS) outcomes.
- Monitor customer interactions to ensure quality and accurate system recording.
- Promote industry specialisation as a market differentiator for IBB.
- Actively engage with the local community to build market presence and take on a visible leadership role.
- Champion process improvement and digitisation initiatives.
- Foster a strong, inclusive, and collaborative team culture within your area.
What We're Looking For

- Comprehensive understanding of Property Finance customers and their needs.
- Expert knowledge of the financial services industry, including 10+ years banking experience.

- Demonstrated success leading high performing teams.
- Able to recognise areas of opportunity to adapt and innovate and drive productivity improvements.
- Understanding of performance and engagement drivers and motivating people to do their best.
- Highly developed business acumen which translates into the ability to represent Corporate in a professional manner.
- Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
- Ability to take ownership to act independently within agreed frameworks.
- Ability to build networks both internally and externally and communicate with confidence.
Nice to Have
- Banking experience preferably within a Property Finance environment.
- Direct experience in a Relationship Management role would be an advantage.
- Tertiary qualification preferred.
Team & Environment
You will lead a regional team of Relationship Managers and Analysts, reporting to the Head of Property Finance as part of the Institutional & Business Banking (IBB) division.
