Hitachi Rail is offering a three-year apprenticeship for an Apprentice - Field Engineer. You will follow a structured programme to develop a broad engineering foundation, working across the UK (excluding London) on the railway. This field-based role involves travel to where the work is required.
What You'll Do
- Follow a three-year apprenticeship programme completing work across telecommunications and electrical disciplines.
- Attend academic and professional training to enhance your railway education.
- Achieve relevant safety accreditation and gather evidence to attain competencies for working on the railway.
- Work a varied shift pattern, mostly day shift, including some night work and occasional weekend work.
- Develop an understanding of rail engineering from the ground up.
- Study towards a Level 3 Information Communication Technician Apprenticeship.
- Undertake varying types of work, experiencing Hitachi Rail systems and learning to be a Telecommunications engineer.
- Perform installation and commissioning across a wide range of Hitachi Rail products, projects, and services.
- Conduct faulting of rail-related telecommunications systems.
- Carry out reactive and preventative maintenance.
- Assist with planning of project works, including documentation production.
- Support other Hitachi teams with multi-discipline works, for example using CAD.
What We're Looking For
- Full UK driving licence.
- 5 GCSEs grade A-C or Level 5 and above, including Maths, English, and a Science subject.
- Right to Work in the UK by the start of employment.
