The Applied AI Engineer will develop and deploy robust AI systems integrated into the core product and business functions. This role emphasizes backend development with Python and FastAPI, implementing large language models, agentic workflows, and generative AI tools within scalable, cloud-native AWS environments.
Responsibilities
- Develop high-performance, thoroughly tested Python and FastAPI services that enable AI-powered features and automation workflows.
- Design and implement multi-step AI agent pipelines using frameworks like LangGraph or CrewAI, or through custom orchestration layers.
- Establish tool interfaces, manage state transitions, implement retry and fallback mechanisms, and incorporate human oversight where necessary.
- Integrate large language model providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic using their APIs and SDKs.
- Handle prompt design, context window optimization, structured output parsing, streaming responses, caching strategies, and cost efficiency across LLM providers.
- Connect and coordinate external AI creative platforms like Arcads, Seedance, and Runway into automated content generation pipelines.
- Identify opportunities and implement AI-driven automation across business areas including content creation, data enhancement, quality assurance, customer support, and internal tools.
- Partner with the Platform team to deploy and maintain services on AWS infrastructure.
- Monitor and manage observability, cost tracking, and governance for AI workloads.
- Collaborate with product, design, and business teams to convert ambiguous requirements into functional AI-powered systems.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of professional Python development experience, with strong expertise in FastAPI or comparable frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience building applications powered by large language models, including prompt engineering, context handling, structured output generation, and cost optimization across providers such as OpenAI or Anthropic.
- Hands-on background developing multi-step agent workflows using LangGraph, CrewAI, or custom orchestration, including state management, tool definitions, and fallback strategies.
- Proven ability to integrate third-party APIs at scale, particularly those involving generative media or creative AI tools.
- Consistently write clean, well-tested, production-ready code and take full responsibility for deployed systems.
- Capable of interpreting ambiguous business challenges and turning them into clear technical implementations while working closely with non-technical partners.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with APIs for generating video, images, or audio, such as Runway, Seedance, or similar platforms.
- Experience designing or working within AI quality assurance or content approval workflows.
- Background operating in fast-moving, product-driven environments.
