We're seeking a Senior Python Backend Developer to lead the design and delivery of scalable backend systems in a fully remote setup. You'll play a central role in shaping products from prototype to production, working across the full development lifecycle with a strong emphasis on architecture, automation, and long-term maintainability.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the end-to-end development of backend services, from concept through deployment and scaling.
- Design and implement high-performance APIs and database structures using Python and modern frameworks.
- Integrate internal and third-party services to ensure seamless data exchange across systems.
- Architect and maintain microservices with event-driven communication using messaging platforms.
- Support automation initiatives and evaluate scalability strategies for growing workloads.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and developers to transform business goals into technical implementations.
- Guide and coordinate efforts across internal and external development teams to ensure alignment and code quality.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience with Python backend frameworks such as FastAPI or Django.
- Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, Redis, and asynchronous programming with Asyncio.
- Hands-on experience containerizing applications with Docker and deploying on AWS.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
- Experience designing microservice architectures and integrating messaging systems like Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Commitment to engineering best practices: code reviews, testing, and clean, maintainable code.
- Proficiency in AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Copilot, or Claude.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
Nice to Have
- Frontend experience with TypeScript, React, or Next.js.
Work Environment
Work remotely from anywhere, with core collaboration hours aligned to EEST (Kyiv Time). The schedule runs Monday through Friday, with a mid-afternoon start and evening end time, including a built-in break. The role is contract-based with compensation in USD.
