Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors is looking for an Application Engineer to design, develop, and maintain secure, accessible, and user-friendly application environments in cloud infrastructure for federal clients. You will translate complex federal requirements into functional applications, ensuring compliance with key guidelines.
What You'll Do
- Design, develop, and deploy responsive, user-centric applications in cloud environments, focusing on federal client needs.
- Integrate accessibility requirements (Section 508, WCAG, ADA) throughout the software development lifecycle and validate compliance using automated tools and manual reviews.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including UI/UX designers, cybersecurity specialists, database administrators, and cloud engineers.
- Maintain and optimize application components, including Oracle Forms and modern web frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue.
- Implement DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code to ensure secure, efficient, and repeatable deployments.
- Produce and maintain accessible technical documentation, user manuals, and training materials.
- Support Authority to Operate (ATO), FISMA, and other compliance processes with proper documentation, remediation plans, and reporting.
- Troubleshoot performance, usability, and accessibility issues, implementing timely corrective actions as needed.
What We're Looking For
- U.S. Citizenship and an active DoD Secret Clearance are required.
- Active Security+ CE (or equivalent) certification.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in federal application development or engineering, including cloud environments.
- Knowledge of Section 508, WCAG 2.1+, ADA, and accessibility integration into SDLC.
- Proficiency with modern web technologies (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript) and backend development (Node.js, Python, Java, or similar).
- Experience with accessibility validation tools (Axe, JAWS, NVDA, Wave) and remediation processes.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to collaborate with diverse, multidisciplinary teams.
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Oracle Forms preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Industry accessibility certifications (IAAP CPACC or WAS) a plus.
- Familiarity with Agile, DevSecOps, CI/CD in government or regulated environments is desirable.
