As the Founding Product Engineer, you’ll play a central role in advancing a SaaS platform designed for public safety agencies. The core system is already 50% developed, giving you the rare opportunity to refine a working product with clear direction—rather than starting from zero.
What You'll Do
- Partner with the founder to define MVP completion and guide the long-term product roadmap.
- Engage directly with law enforcement users—including officers, command staff, and records personnel—to gather insights and shape feature development.
- Turn user feedback into actionable product specifications, user stories, and technical tasks.
- Build and maintain full-stack components, ensuring seamless frontend and backend integration.
- Design secure, multi-tenant database architectures to support diverse agency needs.
- Develop reliable integrations with third-party services such as Twilio, Slack, and government systems.
- Help steer key technical decisions around infrastructure, deployment, and scalability.
- Balance rapid iteration with sustainable architecture and compliance requirements.
Requirements
- Proficient in JavaScript or TypeScript, with hands-on experience in React and Node.js.
- Strong background in relational databases such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or Neon.
- Proven ability to translate user needs into technical implementations.
- Adaptive problem-solver comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities in a startup setting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in government technology, public safety software, or CJIS compliance.
- Exposure to product management, including roadmap planning or user story definition.
