De Beers Group of Companies is recruiting a skilled, safety-conscious Welder for the Engineering & Site Services Department at the Gahcho Kué Mine Site in the Northwest Territories. Reporting to the Plant Maintenance Supervisor, the successful candidate will handle fabrication, welding, and equipment repair to ensure safe, reliable mine site operations. The role involves a 1 week in and 1 week out rotation, with pickup points in Yellowknife or Calgary. Key responsibilities: - Execute preventive maintenance and repairs on mining and plant equipment, including tanks, piping, conveyor systems, and structural components. - Perform welding and fabrication of components meeting industry durability and safety standards. - Conduct equipment inspections and troubleshooting to identify structural and mechanical deficiencies. - Collaborate with millwrights and mechanics to support repairs and ensure proper equipment functionality. - Operate cutting, grinding, and welding tools for metal component restoration and shaping. - Maintain strict adherence to company safety regulations, incident reporting, and investigation support. - Participate in safety audits and maintenance planning meetings to enhance operational processes. - Maintain comprehensive work documentation, reports, and service orders. Qualifications: - Journeyman Welding Certification (Interprovincial Red Seal preferred) - Minimum 5+ years welding experience in mining or industrial environments - Advanced proficiency in MIG, TIG, and stick welding techniques, with structural and pipe welding expertise - In-depth knowledge of conveyor systems, vibrating screens, crushers, and process plant mechanical systems - Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams - Experience with condition monitoring systems for material integrity assessment - Proficiency in MS Office and computerized maintenance management systems (SAP) - Demonstrated experience in remote mining sites and cross-cultural work environments - Proven commitment to Safety, Health, and Environmental Standards Additional Information: Our organization, active in Canada for over 60 years, is part of a global team of 20,000+ professionals operating across multiple countries.
