HP is looking for an Android Framework Engineer to shape the core Android experience on our enterprise and custom devices. You will apply deep expertise in AOSP internals to build robust, high-performance systems.
What You'll Do
- Design, modify, and optimize Android framework components.
- Enable device-specific features and enhance system stability.
- Customize framework modules like ActivityManager, PackageManager, and WindowManager.
- Customize SystemUI elements for target platforms.
- Debug CTS/VTS suites to ensure compliance.
- Work effectively within cross-functional engineering teams.
What We're Looking For
- Strong expertise in AOSP internals, system services, Binder IPC, HAL integration, and platform customization.
- Hands-on experience with Android and a deep understanding of the Android architecture stack.
- Proven experience in AOSP Framework Customization and Android System Services Development.
- Experience with Binder IPC & AIDL Implementation and HAL (HIDL / AIDL HAL) Integration.
- Experience updating SELinux policies and using the Android Build System (Soong / Make).
- Understanding of the Android Permission & Security Model.
- Experience with System App Development, JNI & Native Layer Debugging.
- Proficiency in analyzing Logcat, Tombstones, and ANRs.
- Experience in Performance Optimization and CTS/VTS Debugging & Compliance.
- Strong debugging skills at system and native levels, with the ability to analyze low-level crashes.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams with strong documentation and communication skills.
- Familiarity with Agile Methodology and Full Stack Development concepts.
- Experience with Linux systems.
- Proficiency in languages: Java, Kotlin, C, C++.
- Proficiency with tools: Android Studio, ADB, Fastboot, Git.
- Proficiency with debugging tools: Logcat, systrace, perfetto.
- Experience with platforms: Embedded Android, Custom Devices, Enterprise Devices.
Nice to Have
- A four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field, or commensurate work experience.
