About the Role

The University of Sydney is hiring a Lecturer (Clinical Education) – Allied Health to join the Broken Hill Rural Clinical School, based at the Bourke campus. You will design and deliver innovative teaching environments for allied health students on placement in the North West NSW region, while actively working to improve healthcare outcomes for rural, remote, and First Nations Peoples.

What You'll Do

  • Undertake independent teaching and coaching of students within simulated or real clinical settings, applying clinical experience to inform best practice.
  • Engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences at undergraduate, honours, and postgraduate levels that meet University standards.
  • Develop teaching, subject, and assessment materials under senior clinician or academic supervision.
  • Apply clinical knowledge and expertise to innovate teaching and learning, including developing new resources and practices.
  • Provide informal mentoring and guidance to students, role-modelling effective patient interaction and care.
  • Deliver training and support to other academic staff on effective, innovative, and contemporary clinical practice.
  • Actively represent the University in partner organisations, clinical settings, and the community.
  • Develop and evaluate assessment materials aligned with best practice under senior academic supervision.
  • Demonstrate impact through improving student outcomes, experiences, and learning.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the Faculty/School as articulated in its Strategic Plan.

What We're Looking For

  • A Bachelor's degree or postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field (e.g., physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, dietetics) or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Current registration or equivalent in a health discipline.
  • Proven experience in clinical teaching and learning.
  • Deep and broad experience in teaching and learning in a tertiary environment, evidenced by participation in team teaching and teaching in various settings.
  • A demonstrated understanding of contemporary clinical teaching practices and effective curriculum design.
  • Proven experience working within the relevant industry or clinical setting.
  • Proven experience supervising and mentoring others and/or coordinating team activities.
  • A developing network of relationships with key academic, industry, and professional institutions, partners, and stakeholders.
  • You must be currently living, or have the ability to relocate to, the Bourke campus region (includes Bourke, Brewarrina, Lightning Ridge, Walgett, Cobar, and surrounding townships).
  • A current driver's licence.
  • Unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Team & Environment

You will be part of the Broken Hill Rural Clinical School (RCS) and Broken Hill University Department of Rural Health (UDRH). The team is distributed across the far west, north, and south western regions of NSW.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Base Salary of $127,436 pro rata for a 0.70 FTE (part-time) appointment.
  • Employer contribution to superannuation of 17%.

Work Mode

This is an onsite role based at the Bourke campus, with work required across North West NSW campus locations.
