AI Scientist – Modern AI Applications The Impact You'll Make in this Role As a Principal AI Scientist possessing extensive expertise in Agentic AI, Generative AI, and Natural Language Understanding (NLU), you will spearhead transformative technical innovation within HIS applications. This role demands a hands-on research and development leadership approach - driving technological breakthroughs, conceptualizing pioneering AI architectures, and directly influencing advanced AI integration into mission-critical healthcare products. You will collaborate extensively with scientists, engineers, and domain experts to develop solutions that are comprehensible, dependable, and revolutionary for healthcare operations. Key Responsibilities Research & Innovation - Conceptualize, prototype, and evaluate innovative AI models for autonomous, agent-based systems in healthcare workflows. - Advance cutting-edge NLU for clinical, operational, and administrative healthcare text. - Investigate and implement emerging capabilities in reasoning, decision-making, and multi-modal comprehension. Healthcare-Focused AI Development - Customize and refine large language models to accommodate healthcare-specific language, regulatory requirements, and ethical frameworks. - Develop AI pipelines capable of processing structured and unstructured healthcare data (FHIR, HL7, clinical notes, claims data). - Contribute to domain-specific model architectures enhancing clinical decision-making, revenue cycle management, and patient engagement. Technical Leadership - Serve as the primary technical authority on Agentic and Generative AI within project teams. - Guide junior AI scientists and engineers through code reviews, research mentorship, and technical workshops. - Propel internal knowledge-sharing regarding emerging AI trends, frameworks, and best practices. Operational & Compliance Excellence - Implement rigorous model evaluation frameworks assessing accuracy, robustness, and fairness. - Guarantee compliance with healthcare privacy and data security regulations (HIPAA, HITRUST). - Collaborate with engineering to transition research prototypes into production environments. Required Qualifications - Master's in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or related field AND 5+ years of experience in AI/ML, with a robust portfolio of deployed models. Or - PhD in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, or related field AND 5+ years of experience in AI/ML, with a robust portfolio of deployed models. - Python, R, and modern ML library proficiency. - GenAI, LLMs, and transformer architecture experience. - Expertise with AI development tools and frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face, LangChain, RAG systems). - Practical experience with autonomous AI agents and reasoning systems. - Demonstrated track record applying AI to healthcare or life sciences use cases. - Cloud platforms (AWS) and MLOps practices familiarity. - 5+ years managing direct reports (hiring, performance reviews, etc.) Preferred Skills - Multi-modal AI research experience (text, image, structured data). - Knowledge graph integration and symbolic reasoning expertise. - Proven capability of translating AI research from concept to production.
