The National University of Singapore is hiring an AI Engineer for AI Singapore (AISG). In this role, you will mentor apprentices in the AI Apprenticeship Programme (AIAP), guiding their real-world projects and providing technical mentorship. You will also scope industry-relevant initiatives, contribute to internal AI development projects, and collaborate with external partners to identify meaningful project opportunities, balancing development with talent nurturing.
What You'll Do
- Mentor AIAP apprentices by guiding their real world projects.
- Scope industry-relevant initiatives for apprentices.
- Provide technical mentorship on cutting-edge AI technologies.
- Contribute to internal AI development projects.

- Collaborate with external partners to identify meaningful project opportunities.
What We're Looking For
- A strong portfolio of AI/ML project(s) showcasing your ability to deliver solutions from scoping and data analysis through to deployment and documentation.
- Deep, practical knowledge of machine learning fundamentals and proven experience applying algorithms to solve problems in areas like NLP, Computer Vision, or on tabular data.
- Hands-on experience developing LLM-powered applications, including Prompt Engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and fine-tuning using modern frameworks.
- Expert-level Python skills and a strong commitment to Software Engineering best practices, writing clean, modular, and maintainable code.
- Fluency in the essential MLOps toolkit, including Git, Docker, and CI/CD principles.
- Experience building data and model pipelines on at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Eagerness to guide and develop the next generation of AI talent, contributing to a collaborative and supportive team culture.
- The ability to articulate complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences with clarity and confidence.
- A strong sense of curiosity and drive to stay current in the fast-evolving world of artificial intelligence.
