Juniper Square is hiring an AI Engineer

This is a hands-on internship focused on advancing AI integration within a core product feature. The intern will develop, test, and refine machine learning and natural language processing models that address real challenges in the private markets industry. The 11-week program is fully remote for candidates in the U.S. or Canada and includes structured mentorship, collaboration with engineering and product teams, and opportunities to influence long-term product strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Design and prototype AI-powered features in collaboration with engineers and product managers to enhance a key product area
  • Develop, train, and evaluate machine learning and NLP models using standard tools and frameworks
  • Process and analyze large, complex datasets through data cleaning, preprocessing, and feature engineering
  • Apply machine learning and deep learning methods to solve practical problems in private markets
  • Help integrate AI models into production systems through testing, validation, and iterative improvements
  • Conduct research and experimentation, particularly in NLP and large language models, to support product innovation
  • Work closely with engineering, design, and product teams to assess technical feasibility and align AI features with product goals
  • Engage in team meetings, code reviews, and brainstorming sessions with a focus on technical contribution and learning
  • Document work and share knowledge to support team-wide AI development efforts
  • Take ownership of projects that have potential strategic impact on product direction

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or a related quantitative field such as Mathematics, Statistics, or Physics
  • Strong academic background in algorithms, data structures, linear algebra, calculus, probability, and statistics
  • Proficient in Python programming
  • Skilled in data manipulation, preprocessing, and feature engineering
  • Familiar with core machine learning algorithms such as regression, decision trees, and clustering, including their mathematical foundations
  • Knowledge of software engineering practices including Git, Agile methodologies, and API integration via REST or GraphQL
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Proactive mindset with initiative and curiosity for exploring new AI technologies

Nice to Have

  • Coursework or experience in machine learning, deep learning, NLP, or computer vision
  • Hands-on experience with TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, NumPy, or Pandas
  • Familiarity with SQL or NoSQL databases and data querying
  • Experience using data visualization platforms such as Looker, Tableau, or Power BI
  • Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS or GCP and cloud-based ML services such as Amazon SageMaker or Google AI Platform
  • Understanding of Large Language Model mechanics, including sampling, structured output generation, and function calling
  • Practical experience with prompt engineering

Compensation

Hourly rate: $50.00 USD (U.S.) or $57.00 CAD (Canada)

Work Arrangement

hybrid — U.S., Canada, India, Luxembourg, England, San Francisco, New York City, Mumbai, Bangalore — Fully remote option available; employees may choose to work full-time remotely or in one of the physical offices. Digital-first operations support collaboration across 27 U.S. states and 2 Canadian provinces.
