Children's Aid is looking for an Afterschool Specialist to lead instruction and provide academic support for students in our afterschool program. Reporting to the Program Director, you will implement curriculum and foster a positive learning environment for elementary and/or middle school youth.
What You'll Do
- Understand and promote the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
- Lead instruction 3-5 days per week for approximately 90 minutes each day in individual tutoring or small group settings.
- Cover core subjects including Math, English Language Arts (ELA), Science, and Social Studies.
- Assist students with understanding and completing daily homework assignments.
- Support students in developing effective study skills, organization, and time management habits.
- Implement all provided curriculum and instruction.
- Facilitate and inspire projects that promote youth ideas, expression, and creativity.
- Assist in developing themes and project-based learning topics aligned with school curriculum.
- Serve as a positive role model for youth.
- Interact, engage, and maintain open communication with parents regarding student needs and home-school projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s Degree required.
- At least one year of experience working with children in a tutoring or teaching capacity.
- Experience working in a school setting or out-of-school time program.
- Strong knowledge of elementary and/or middle school core academic subjects.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver services sensitively to diverse backgrounds.
Nice to Have
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Team & Environment
This role reports directly to the Program Director.
Benefits & Compensation
- Hourly compensation: $30.00 - $44.00
