At AECOM, we’re one global team driven by our common purpose to deliver a better world. We are looking for a Rail Engineering Director to join our team. This role is central to supporting planning, sustainability, environmental, and engineering efforts across the entire project lifecycle, from conception through construction. You will ensure design consistency, advise on environmental strategy, and collaborate closely with Construction and Rail Operations teams on system policies and design.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate with the Client, Design Builders, PCM teams, and third-party utilities or railroads, attending meetings and reviewing project documents.
- Report on discovered utility or railroad issues and actively participate in their resolution.
- Prepare status reports and maintain a tracking log for all issues and their resolutions.
- Oversee design document consistency and compliance, and ensure adherence to all relevant regulations.
- Collaborate with Construction and Rail Operations on system policies, station design, and alignments.
What We're Looking For
- A BA/BS degree plus 12 years of relevant experience, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
- Including at least 4 years in a leadership capacity.
Nice to Have
- A Master’s degree in engineering, transportation, or a related discipline.
- 25 years of relevant experience with 8 years in leadership.
- A Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Experience with high-speed rail projects in a senior leadership capacity.
- Familiarity with advanced rail maintenance technologies and sustainable design practices.
- Proven expertise in planning and managing large-scale rail maintenance facilities.
- A strong understanding of rail vehicle servicing operations and requirements.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations, including FRA and California requirements.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary, multi-stakeholder project environments.
- Ability to prepare comprehensive technical documents and plans.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project coordination skills.
