About the Role

The University of Chicago is hiring an Advanced Practice Nurse to join the Pain and Anesthesia Perioperative Medicine Clinics (APMC) within the Department of Anesthesia & Critical Care. In this role, you will provide comprehensive care to surgical and procedural patients, collaborating closely with physicians and a multidisciplinary team. This position requires travel to our main location and may float to offsite clinics in Orland Park, River East, and Crown Point.

What You'll Do

  • Evaluate and manage surgical and procedural patients prior to their scheduled intervention.
  • Provide direct primary health care to patients in collaboration with supervising physicians.
  • Conduct comprehensive health assessments and develop personalized patient care plans.
  • Take patient histories, perform physical examinations, and accurately document findings.
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic studies as directed.
  • Screen patients for hospital admission needs and make referrals to other disciplines.
  • Act as a liaison among the nurse, patient, family, physician, and community resources.
  • Identify and participate in unit quality assurance initiatives.
  • Act as a clinical resource for staff and may participate in teaching students and residents.
  • Evaluate care goals and outcomes for safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Perform other related work as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • A college or university degree from an accredited school/college.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in a related job discipline.
  • Current and/or eligible for State of Illinois licensure/registration.
  • Eligibility to be privileged and credentialed through the Medical Staff Office (MSO).

Nice to Have

  • Previous clinical experience in an ICU setting.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Compensation range: $128,000.00 - $163,500.00.
  • Health, retirement, and paid time off benefits.

Work Mode

This is an onsite position. Primary and floating locations include Chicago, IL; Orland Park, IL; River East, IL; and Crown Point, IN.
