Montrose County is looking for an Administrative Assistant to perform comprehensive administrative support for a division, office, or department. You will manage secretarial functions, document workflows, and coordinate office activities to ensure smooth daily operations.
What You'll Do
- Perform customer service and reception duties, providing information and responding to inquiries.
- Schedule, maintain, and adjust appointments, calendars, and work schedules for groups and individuals.
- Coordinate meetings and make travel arrangements as needed.
- Order and maintain inventory of office supplies and equipment; track expenditures and ensure equipment operation.
- Assist in tracking, balancing, and processing accounts receivable/payable, purchasing, and contract coordination.
- Prepare and distribute meeting agendas, packets, and materials; may take and transcribe meeting minutes.
- Establish and maintain office filing systems, records, and files; assemble information upon request.
- Prepare, proofread, and compose standard documents, forms, and correspondence.
- Schedule work orders and service calls; maintain activity and work logs.
- May assist with mail pick-up and distribution.
What We're Looking For
- High School diploma or equivalent, supplemented by secretarial or office administration coursework.
- A minimum of two (2) or more years of experience in an office setting.
- Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; skill to organize materials and present information clearly.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with employees, agency representatives, and community members.
- Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts like addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
- Ability to apply basic logic and reasoning to practical problems; strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to effectively use modern office technology and equipment, including computers, calculators, telephone, and copiers; fundamental experience with word processing, databases, spreadsheets, and email.
- Must possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
Nice to Have
- An Associate’s degree.

Works under the supervision of the division, office, or program director, elected official manager, or supervisor.
Benefits & Compensation
- Compensation: $20.98 - $24.68 hourly (DOE)
