Nationwide Life and Annuity Insurance Co is hiring a remote Actuary – Annuities Pricing to price and enhance product development efforts for our annuity products. This role is pivotal in advancing product strategy, managing risk, and ensuring our offerings remain competitive in the market.
What You'll Do
- Drive execution of pricing strategies for variable annuities and RILA products.
- Collaborate with business leadership to craft innovative product designs and concepts.
- Collaborate with risk governance to ensure product risks and returns align with risk appetite.
- Provide guidance in sophisticated actuarial techniques and pricing analysis.
- Engage with cross-functional teams to deliver results and drive product strategy improvements.
- Act as a specialist for compilation, categorization and analysis of data.
- Construct sophisticated testing tools and product calculations.
- Build, maintain and compute Actuarial, Projection & Valuation Models.
- Conduct financial reporting and analysis.
- Price and support implementation of products.
- Conduct risk analysis for lines of business/products.
- Establish reserves and other valuation items under multiple accounting regimes (statutory, GAAP, and tax) for products.
- Lead and provide experienced knowledge for the analysis of reinsurance opportunities.
- Build cohesive presentations, communication strategies and recommendations of actuarial findings suitable for technical and non-technical audiences at the OCFO leadership level.
What We're Looking For
- Fellowship in the Society of Actuaries (FSA).
- Undergraduate degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, or similar background requiring modeling, programming or quantitative analysis.
- Typically, five to seven years of actuarial experience.
- Experienced knowledge of actuarial business functions, statistical methods of analysis, actuarial models, actuarial software and databases.
- Mastery of Microsoft Office products (including VBA within Access and Excel), analytical software (such as Tableau) and programming languages.
Nice to Have
- Experience in pricing assumption-setting and modeling.
- Ability to educate and motivate cross-functional teams.
- AXIS modeling experience.

Work Mode
This is a fully remote position open to candidates in any of the lower 48 U.S. states. The base location is Columbus, OH.
