Milliman is looking for an Actuary to join our Seattle Health Practice. In this role, you will apply creative actuarial skills to complex healthcare challenges while leading a team of dedicated consultants. Success requires strong communication and organizational abilities, a high degree of self-motivation, and a commitment to client service.
What You'll Do
- Perform analysis of healthcare data
- Write reports that explain technical concepts clearly to a non-technical audience
- Manage projects through completion within an expected budget
- Supervise actuarial students and less-experienced actuaries in the completion of technical aspects of actuarial projects
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field
- FSA designation
- Seven to ten years of healthcare actuarial experience
- Excellent communication, both verbal and written
- Ability to work both independently and in team environments
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment where client satisfaction is key
- Entrepreneurial spirit
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for immigration support or sponsorship from Milliman now or in the future
Nice to Have
- Experience in Medicaid rate-setting
- Experience in Reserving and year-end statutory financials (“blue” and “orange” blanks)
- Experience in ACA pricing/rate filing
- Experience in Medicare Advantage, especially bid development and understanding of revenue mechanisms (e.g., risk scores, star ratings)
- Experience in Value-based provider contracting
- Proficiency with Excel
- Some knowledge of SAS, SQL, or R
- Strong understanding of the US healthcare system
- Demonstrable skills in presenting technical concepts to a non-technical audience in an understandable way

Compensation: Overall salary range is $103,500 - $242,650. For candidates in Alaska, CA, CT, IL, MD, MA, NJ, PA, VA, WA, or DC: $119,025 - $214,820 if experience <10 years; $134,435 - $242,650 for experience >10 years. For all other locations: $103,500 - $186,800 if experience <10 years; $116,900 - $211,000 for experience >10 years.
