At Sammons Financial Group, we are looking for an Actuary to serve as a leader in developing accurate and efficient tools and processes that support our actuarial functions. You will analyze and present management information to drive decisions while managing multiple projects and collaborating across departments.
What You'll Do
- Apply strong knowledge of SFG products related to your area of focus, incorporating new products into existing models and processes.
- Use knowledge of insurance contracts and regulations to perform existing functions and recommend enhancements for regulatory changes.
- Develop and recommend assumptions for management approval, leveraging company and industry data, and model the impact of changes.
- Create, understand, and interpret complex financial models, analyze deterministic and stochastic projections, and ensure proper governance.
- Leverage knowledge of accounting standards to analyze and explain financial reporting, including balance sheets and income statements.
- Create spreadsheets, databases, and other analytic tools to perform data analysis and present aggregated data to inform decisions.
- Understand relevant actuarial risks, quantify exposure, and assist in developing risk mitigation techniques.
- Lead special projects, work individually and in teams, and deliver high-quality projects on time.
- Develop relationships and collaborate effectively with other departments, business units, and actuarial teams.
- Enhance professional skills through the Society of Actuaries’ exam or continuing education requirements.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree preferably in mathematics or a business-related field.
- A superior level of mathematical ability, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in the use of applicable technical tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to apply insurance industry knowledge, preferably in individual life and annuities.
- Ability to identify and direct analysis of problems and provide recommendations.
- Ability to work both individually and as part of a team.
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and switch priorities as necessary.
- Ability to work effectively in an office environment.

- FSA required, or will consider a near-FSA actively pursuing completion of FSA, or a career ASA.
Nice to Have
- 6-8 years' experience in the field of Actuarial Science.

- Compensation range: USD $130,505.00 - $217,508.00 /Yr.
