About the Role

Verisk Analytics is seeking an early-career Actuarial Analyst to join our Strategic Actuarial Operations (SAO) team. This role supports our expanding scope of internal and external responsibilities and is well suited for someone building foundational actuarial and analytical skills through hands-on project work, collaboration, and mentorship.

What You'll Do

  • Support the preparation of actuarial products for regulators and customers, with an emphasis on accuracy, documentation, and meeting deadlines.
  • Assist with experience reviews, state loss cost filings, actuarial circulars, and other actuarial analyses.
  • Conduct coding logic and program troubleshooting to extract data for analysis and report compilations.
  • Review the quality of premium, exposure, loss, and claim data submitted by insurance companies for use in actuarial methodologies.
  • Participate in initiatives to improve efficiency and automation of actuarial and business processes.
  • Support responses to routine questions from regulators and insurers related to filings and analytic products.
  • Collaborate with other business units and subject matter experts to improve data quality, product development, and procedures.
  • Develop foundational skills in communicating analytical results through clear summaries, exhibits, and visualizations.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree with concentration in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Economics, Engineering, or Physical Sciences.
  • 1-3 years of P&C insurance industry experience, especially in data management or actuarial practices.
  • Familiarity with the ISO/Verisk core business.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making skills, and technical aptitude.
  • Self-motivated, customer oriented, able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, R, Python, or other general-purpose programming languages.
  • Familiarity with BI tools like PowerBI, Tableau, or ThoughtSpot.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work on several projects concurrently under time constraints and adapt to changing priorities.
