Second Nature is hiring an Accounting Manager (Accounting Operations)

Second Nature is looking for an Accounting Manager (Accounting Operations) to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and lead a small team. You will report to and partner closely with the Controller to ensure financial accuracy, maintain strong internal controls, and support a growing finance organization.

What You'll Do

• Manage and supervise day-to-day accounting operations.
• Oversee accounts payable, cash application, payroll administration, and core accounting processes.
• Ensure accounting activities are executed accurately and in accordance with GAAP.
• Support the monthly close process and ensure timely completion of accounting deliverables.
• Review journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Oversee bi-weekly multi-state payroll processing in coordination with HR, ensuring accurate inputs and compliance.
• Review payroll-related journal entries and reconciliations within NetSuite.
• Supervise accounts payable and cash application activities, ensuring vendor invoices and payments are accurate and timely.
• Support the preparation of monthly financial statements and close deliverables.
• Partner with HR to ensure payroll and employee benefits are processed accurately.
• Maintain strong internal controls across accounting processes and ensure documentation is audit-ready.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, documentation, and financial workflows.
• Supervise and mentor accounting team members, providing guidance and supporting professional development.
• Coordinate workload to ensure deadlines are met.
• Establish and maintain consistent, scalable accounting procedures.

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting processes.
• Experience managing month-end close processes and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Experience overseeing accounts payable or operational accounting teams.
• Experience overseeing payroll processing or payroll accounting.
• Experience working with multi-state payroll environments.
• Experience with UKG Pro or similar HRIS for payroll processing.
• Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
• Experience working in a high-growth or SaaS environment.

Nice to Have

• Deep understanding of how operational accounting processes connect to financial reporting and internal controls.
• Comfort collaborating across departments to solve problems.
• Experience with process improvement and ensuring accuracy.
• Previous experience as a people leader or leading operational accounting teams.
• CPA or CPA-track preferred.
