Weekday is looking for a part-time Accounting Expert to support our rapidly growing AI research and product organization. You will manage key financial systems and provide strategic financial advice in our fast-paced, innovation-led environment.
What You'll Do
- Manage the full accounting cycle including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and monthly close activities.
- Prepare and maintain financial reports, including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements to support strategic decision-making.
- Oversee budgeting and forecasting while conducting detailed variance and trend analysis.
- Handle accounts payable/receivable, vendor coordination, and expense reimbursements.
- Develop and implement internal controls, accounting policies, and scalable financial processes tailored to a growing tech organization.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax consultants, and financial advisors to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Drive process automation and improve system efficiencies in financial reporting and data workflows.
- Advise leadership on cost optimization, operational efficiency, and financial best practices.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of professional experience in accounting or controllership.
- Strong understanding of GAAP or IFRS, reconciliations, and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency with cloud-based accounting platforms (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite) and advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.
- Excellent analytical ability with the capacity to simplify complex financial insights.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Comfort working independently and collaborating across distributed remote teams.
Nice to Have
- Professional certification such as CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent is strongly preferred.
- Experience working in tech, AI, or high-growth startup environments is highly desirable.
