About the Role

Horizon Recovery is looking for an experienced Bookkeeper / Accountant to manage the day-to-day accounting and finance requirements for two start-up businesses: a Real Estate Development Firm and a Property Management Company. We need a detail-oriented professional who values confidentiality and possesses excellent organizational skills, a positive attitude, and clear communication abilities.

What You'll Do

  • Balance and maintain accurate ledgers
  • Match purchase orders with invoices
  • Coordinate bank deposits and report financial results regularly to management
  • Work with a Project Coordinator to prepare lender draw requests
  • Prepare project spending reports
  • Gather and review pay applications for vendors
  • Monitor office expenses and tally cash receipts
  • Pay vendor invoices and track bank account balances
  • Develop monthly financial statements, including cash flow, profit and loss statements, and balance sheets
  • Manage payroll, operating, and business tax
  • Assist the Project Coordinator and Project Superintendent with packaging and sending project RFPs

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in a bookkeeping or accounting role
  • Demonstrated years of experience in bookkeeping and accounting, specifically in accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, and payroll
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks or Xero accounting software
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Extensive experience with data entry, record keeping, and computer operation
  • Experience with payroll services, including writing checks and submitting payroll taxes
  • Strong understanding of business and income tax worksheets and computations
  • Dedication to providing great customer service
  • A positive attitude and professional demeanor
  • Ability to maintain regular daily office hours
  • Commitment to presenting oneself in a neat, clean, and professional manner
  • Ability to perform effectively in a busy, changing, multi-tasking work environment

Team & Environment

You will work closely with and assist a Project Coordinator and Project Superintendent to support project and business accounting functions.
