About the Role

Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation is hiring an Access & Reimbursement Manager (ARM), a field-based position covering the Nebraska, Iowa, and mid-Missouri territory. You will serve as the local market access expert, educating defined accounts on a wide range of reimbursement, coverage, and patient access topics to support aligned cardiovascular products.

What You'll Do

  • Proactively provide in-person or virtual education to accounts on access and reimbursement topics.
  • Serve as the key contact and local market access expert for reimbursement support.
  • Partner closely with Customer Engagement (Sales), Market Access, and other NPC field associates.
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with internal teams like the Patient Support Center, Marketing, and Public Affairs.
  • Interact within assigned accounts to support patient access, providing face-to-face education on product-specific programs.
  • Address customer questions on NPC policies for product ordering, payment, inventory, and returns.
  • Work with providers, administrators, billing staff, and revenue cycle managers to support patient access.
  • Analyze reimbursement problems and offer solutions related to payer policies and drug acquisition.
  • Identify and analyze reimbursement trends at local, regional, and national levels.
  • Support pull-through on local coverage decisions to enable patient access.
  • Proactively communicate policy changes affecting other departments.
  • Stand up Novartis-sponsored patient support programs.
  • Maintain expertise in the regional and local access landscape.
  • Interface with the Patient Support Center on patient case management, issue resolution, and education.
  • Review patient-specific information to assist with resolving coverage challenges.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional associates to share insights on customer needs and barriers.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of NPC policies and perform all responsibilities with integrity.
  • Handle Patient Identifiable Information appropriately and ensure compliance with privacy laws.
  • Identify and report adverse events.
  • Assess the access situation within your geography and develop a Plan of Action.
  • Establish preferred acquisition pathways.
  • Educate on and support buy-and-bill end-to-end processes and workflows in complex accounts.
  • Educate stakeholders on logistics for ordering, payment, inventory, and product returns.
  • Act as the designated reimbursement expert for offices and field teams.
  • Engage with non-prescribers such as pharmacy, system leadership, financial counselors, and office administrators.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Minimum three to five years' experience in public/private third-party reimbursement or the pharmaceutical industry in managed care, clinical support, or sales.
  • Experience with specialty pharmacy products acquired through Specialty Pharmacy networks or buy-and-bill distributors.
  • Experience with coding, billing, and in-office support programs.
  • Prior account management experience or experience with complex accounts.
  • Specialty pharmacy experience, including the ability to teach an office the process from script to injection.
  • Experience establishing relationships within a practice to remove reimbursement barriers.
  • Ability to operate as a team player in collaborating with sales representatives, leadership, and internal colleagues.
  • Ability to travel and cover large multistate geography territories, with at least 50% travel required.
  • Must live within the assigned territory (Nebraska, Iowa, mid-Missouri).
  • Driving is an essential function of this role; a fully valid and unrestricted driver’s license is required.
  • Superb knowledge of the buy-and-bill reimbursement pathway.
  • Experience working with established injection networks.

  • Knowledge of Centers of Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) policies and processes, especially Medicare Parts B and D.
  • Knowledge of Managed Care, Government, and Federal payer sectors, and Integrated Delivery Networks/Health Systems.

  • Understanding of patient privacy laws including HIPAA and similar state laws.
  • Strong business acumen.

Team & Environment

This role partners closely with other Novartis Pharmaceuticals Corporation field associates, including Customer Engagement (Sales) and Market Access teams, and coordinates cross-functionally within NPC.

  • Compensation range: $138,600 - $257,400/year.

Work Mode
