GE HealthCare is hiring a Wind Hub Technician to maintain optimal function and output at wind sites within Hub South Dakota2. You'll partner with site leadership on daily turbine operations, safety, and repairs to meet contract requirements and timelines.
What You'll Do
- Work with site and hub leadership to execute contractual obligations and daily activities.
- Perform maintenance, repair, or replacement of parts to correct malfunctions.
- Troubleshoot complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on variable pitch and variable speed turbines.
- Assist in all areas of site operations as directed by your manager with minimal supervision, observing all safety requirements.
- Perform some diagnostic electrical analysis.
- Document all work performed using computer-based service reporting procedures.
- Work with and respond to GE's remote operations center when necessary.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 1 year as a Wind Technician/Wind Mechanic, OR completed Wind Certificate Program/Associates Degree in Energy, OR 2 years of electrical work experience.
- Passing a Technical Knowledge Assessment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to handle repetitive weight of 50 lbs and climb towers up to 300 feet daily.
- Meet specified manufacturer weight limits not to exceed 300lbs including required gear.
- Willingness to work in a range of environments including industrial, manufacturing, and power industry facilities.
- Effectively prioritize work according to contract obligations.
- Ability to take initiative and work without direct supervision.
- Flexibility to work rotating shift schedules and be on-call per site needs.
- Ability for occasional overnights per hub needs.
Nice to Have
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in a Technical, Electrical, or Electronics field from an accredited college.
- Technical Certification in Wind Energy or Electrical/Electronic field.
- Ability to work with a wide variety of personnel at all levels inside and outside of the Wind Farm.
- Wind turbine experience.
- Electrical, mechanical, and/or hydraulic experience.
- Experience using hydraulic power tools.
- Experience with heavy equipment for facility maintenance and a working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements.
