The Daily Beast is looking for a Weekend News Editor to fulfill a vital role in its 24/7 news operation. You will drive compelling and impactful news coverage from Wednesday through Sunday, ensuring our audience stays informed with timely, accurate reporting.
What You'll Do
- Oversee news coverage across assigned shifts, ensuring timely, accurate, and engaging reporting.
- Assign and edit stories, providing guidance to reporters to produce high-quality content.
- Monitor news trends and stay ahead of the competition.
- Curate The Daily Beast’s homepage and update social feeds with fresh content.
- Maintain high journalistic standards and uphold The Daily Beast's editorial voice.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in journalism.
- At least 2 years in an editing role.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills.
- Strong news judgment and the ability to make quick editorial decisions.
- Deep understanding of digital media and audience engagement strategies.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines with a small team.
