Ryerson is looking for a Vortman Machine Operator, classified as a Service Center Operator B (SCOB), to handle the day-to-day staging, packing, and picking of material for shipments. You'll use proper equipment to move material and ensure accurate order fulfillment.
What You'll Do
- Pick and stage feedstock for fulfillment orders
- Break down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders
- Package material to customer requirements
- Operate a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material as needed
- Complete paperwork and SAP work order confirmation for shipping and receiving
- Maximize productivity for finished goods creation
- Perform all other duties as assigned
What We're Looking For
- Ability to successfully pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving
- Commitment to regular attendance
- Basic math skills
- Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer
- Physical ability to pass a physical requirements exam for vision, hearing, and mobility
- Willingness to be enrolled in a registered apprenticeship program as part of onboarding and new hire training
Nice to Have
- Minimum 2 years of similar job experience preferred
