The NTU Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine's School of Art, Design and Media (ADM) invites applications for a one-year term Visiting Associate Professor position specializing in Video Game Design and/or Game Studies/Ludology. This teaching-focused role aims to enhance our creative output and academic standing, reinforcing ADM's leadership in contemporary digital media education within the region.
What You'll Do
- Teach and provide academic mentorship as your primary responsibility.
- Support ADM's position as a regional leader in video game and digital media education.
- Bridge the gap between industry-standard practice and academic innovation.
- Guide student-led projects from concept to completion across game development, mechanics design, and interactive media.
- Foster a supportive, inclusive, and diverse learning environment.
What We're Looking For
- A current or previous academic appointment at the Associate Professor level.
- A strong track record of tertiary-level teaching.
- A terminal MFA or PhD degree in a relevant field.
- Extensive expertise in Video Game Design, including game mechanics, level design, interactive narrative, player experience (UX), and emerging creative technologies.
- Confidence navigating the rapidly evolving digital media and technology landscape.
- An established record of tertiary-level teaching and curricular engagement.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
Nice to Have
- Recognition as an eminent overseas academic, such as an international prize recipient or distinguished scholar.
- A recognized practice in video games with an impactful portfolio showcasing innovation, storytelling, and design.
- Evidence of scholarly output in contemporary forums related to game studies, gaming theory, or creative computing.
- A commitment to advancing the discipline through research or creative practice.
- Willingness to engage with cultural, ethical, and philosophical dimensions of gaming.
- Ability to connect with fields like digital humanities, ludic studies, or social gaming platforms.
- National or international recognition by academia or industry.
- A track record of leadership and contribution to the evolution of game design and gaming theory.
