AlgaeCal is looking for a Video Editor to craft high-retention, narrative-driven content that builds trust and authority. Driven by our mission to end the fear of bone loss, you’ll use motion graphics, mixed media, and sound design to create genuine connections with our audience.

What You'll Do

Craft high-retention, narrative-driven content that builds trust, authority, and genuine connection with the audience.
Produce 4-6 polished, narrative-driven videos per month.
Design visual cold opens using motion graphics, kinetic text, and punchy imagery for the first 30 seconds to drive CTR and watch time.
Build long-form videos where every major talking point is supported by deliberate visual assets like animation, stock, or AI-generated footage.
Engineer viewer retention by deploying pattern interrupts such as motion bursts, angle changes, text builds, and dynamic cuts to prevent drop-offs.
Design end screens with purpose and structure arcs around curiosity.
Hunt for the perfect visual shot or leverage AI tools to create on-brand visuals that reinforce the narrative.
Elevate scenes with sound design—whooshes, stings, swells—to guide viewers through tension, clarity, excitement, and resolution.
Bring ideas to creative sessions, including visual metaphors, animation approaches, and structural improvements, to shape the story before it hits the timeline.
Absorb and translate feedback to elevate the work.

What We're Looking For

3+ years of experience shaping stories frame-by-frame.
Expert-level editing skills in DaVinci Resolve, fluent in the Edit, Color, and Fairlight pages.
An impressive portfolio demonstrating the ability to show what things mean, not just edit what's said.
Experience building reusable Fusion assets like lower thirds, transitions, and animated elements.
Ability to take abstract concepts, dense explanations, or interview snippets and instantly picture the visual sequence.
Experience building videos that achieve 50%+ Average Percentage Viewed (APV) by default.
A motion designer's skill set: kinetic typography, animated charts, mixed-media sequences, 2D animation, compositing, and custom motion text.
Understanding of how editing shapes YouTube retention, CTR, and watchability.
