About the Role
This program provides veterinary students with practical clinical and field experience under the supervision of licensed veterinarians, focusing on wildlife medicine, animal care, and conservation-related health initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Participate in daily animal health assessments
- Assist in diagnostic procedures and sample collection
- Observe and support surgical and medical treatments
- Engage in preventive care protocols including vaccinations and parasite control
- Monitor post-operative recovery of animals
- Contribute to wildlife immobilization and anesthesia processes
- Maintain detailed medical records
- Collaborate with veterinary and animal care teams
- Support research initiatives related to animal health
- Learn about zoonotic disease monitoring and control
- Assist in necropsy procedures and data documentation
- Follow biosecurity and safety protocols
- Participate in animal transport and handling
- Gain experience with diverse species in managed care
- Observe quarantine and reintroduction procedures
- Attend educational seminars and case discussions
- Practice clinical decision-making under supervision
- Use diagnostic equipment such as ultrasound and radiography
- Engage in data collection for population health studies
