Responsibilities
- Oversee the vehicle system, its interactions with other systems, and ensure overall performance meets program and product requirements for a new platform.
- Manage the schedule and execution of the vehicle system across different product generations, including development timelines, prototype testing, demonstrations, and transition to mass production.
- Manage the development budget and cost performance for the vehicle, ensuring all subsystems are compliant and aiming for cost reduction as per the system cost plan.
- Provide technical leadership at the vehicle system level, ensuring technical performance, implementation of design principles, and resolution of issues.
- Serve as the escalation point for technical decision-making and conflict resolution for the vehicle system team, with additional escalation handled by the Maritime Chief Engineer.
- Represent the vehicle system in leadership meetings, customer interactions, and other relevant forums.
- Conduct meetings across the vehicle team, including daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives, monthly meetings, and all-hands meetings.
- Directly interface with the Chief Engineer and other system leads on technical challenges and issue resolution.
- Collaborate with peers in Production, Payloads, Mission Systems, Field Operations, Product Management, and Sustainment to align execution with the product-level schedule.
- Conduct platform-level trade studies across critical systems and subsystems to inform architectural updates and changes to the platform.
- Lead and mentor senior and principal engineers to prepare them for platform-level leadership roles.
