The UX & UI Designer will play a key role in shaping intuitive, engaging, and visually compelling digital experiences across SilverRail's consumer-facing products. This six-month contract role involves collaboration with product managers, engineers, and developers to transform user needs and business requirements into elegant, user-centric design solutions throughout the full design lifecycle.
What You'll Do
- Contribute to the design, improvement, and ongoing maintenance of a suite of digital travel products across web and mobile platforms.
- Take ownership of specific features or products, from initial concept through to delivery and iteration.
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to gather, analyse, and refine user and business requirements into effective design solutions.
- Create wireframes, user flows, journey maps, and prototypes to communicate design ideas and interactions clearly.
- Produce high-fidelity UI designs that are visually consistent, user-friendly, and aligned with brand guidelines.
- Help maintain, evolve, and administer the design system and component library in Figma, ensuring consistency, usability, and proper documentation across teams.
- Plan and conduct UX research activities to validate designs and gather user insights, including usability testing (remote and in-person), interviews, and focus groups.
- Analyse user behaviour, research findings, and product analytics to identify pain points and opportunities for improving the user experience.
- Identify and resolve UX issues such as usability challenges, accessibility concerns, and responsiveness across devices.
- Iterate on designs based on user feedback, testing outcomes, and data insights to continuously improve product quality.
- Work closely with engineering teams to ensure accurate implementation of designs and provide support during development.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, tools, and best practices in UX and UI design, bringing fresh ideas into the team.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience as a UX/UI Designer, with an emphasis towards UX principles and methodologies, and a solid history of UI design work.
- Proven experience designing digital products (web and/or mobile), ideally within a commercial or product-focused environment.
- A strong portfolio showcasing design thinking, problem-solving skills, and your contribution to real-world projects and products.
- Strong proficiency in Figma.
- Practical experience conducting UX research, including usability testing (remote and in-person), interviews, and focus groups, and translating insights into design improvements.
- Strong understanding of requirements analysis, user-centered design processes, and the creation of UX artifacts such as personas and journey maps.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards and best practices (e.g. designing for inclusivity and usability across diverse user groups).
- Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to delivering high-quality, pixel-perfect designs.
- Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Excellent communication skills (visual, verbal, and written) with the ability to clearly present and justify design decisions.
- A proactive mindset with a willingness to learn, take feedback constructively, and contribute ideas confidently.
Nice to Have
- Interest or experience in travel, transport, or e-commerce domains is advantageous but not essential.
