Electrify America is hiring an Utility Operations Analyst

Role Overview

This position supports the integration of electric vehicle charging assets into the power grid by managing coordination between internal teams and utility providers. The analyst ensures efficient project delivery, regulatory adherence, and cost-effective utility interconnections, primarily within California but extending nationwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical point of contact for utility operations, providing expert guidance on interconnection processes and requirements
  • Build and maintain relationships with utility companies, project owners, and internal stakeholders to support timely project execution
  • Coordinate between utility providers and internal project managers to resolve construction issues, track progress, and ensure follow-through
  • Review utility-submitted documents including agreements, design plans, specifications, and billing records
  • Support the setup and ongoing management of utility accounts
  • Advise internal teams on utility interconnection requirements and best practices to accelerate deployment
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through improved delivery models, process optimization, and strategic vendor engagement
  • Oversee utility billing and manage contracts for line extensions
  • Apply knowledge of electrical systems and utility standards to interpret high-voltage designs and service applications
  • Communicate technical evaluations and recommendations clearly to non-technical teams

Qualifications

  • 5–7 years of experience in utility coordination, particularly in electrical service design and construction
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent professional experience
  • Proven project management skills across all project phases, including risk tracking and escalation
  • Strong analytical abilities with experience interpreting utility drawings, tariffs, and regulations
  • Familiarity with high-voltage (480V 3-phase) service and distribution systems
  • Proficiency in reading and processing utility invoices and monthly billing statements
  • Effective communication skills for both technical and operational audiences
  • Ability to work independently and lead process improvements
  • Experience with software tools used in project and document management

Preferred Background

  • Master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical, or Computer)
  • Prior work with California utilities on new service applications
  • Deep understanding of EV charging infrastructure and utility requirements
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations, rate structures, and utility procedures
  • Familiarity with the broader EV ecosystem, including manufacturers, installers, and regulatory agencies
