Role Overview As a Senior Consultant, you will primarily offer technical support for legacy transformation initiatives and assist in modernizing migrated enterprise systems utilizing .NET and/or Java alongside Avanade's AMT technological toolkit. You will implement cloud technologies and DevOps methodologies including continuous integration/continuous deployment and containerization approaches. You will coordinate the delivery of migrated sources and data, encompassing the establishment and configuration of target environments. You will examine defects reported by clients within migrated applications or environment configurations and recommend optimal resolution strategies. Additionally, you will guide clients in comprehending the migrated environment through comprehensive training and knowledge transfer processes. The position occasionally requires onsite client travel, either to assess current legacy environment characteristics for migration or to support critical events during legacy transformation projects. You will receive backing from an experienced team with extensive legacy migration and modernization expertise. Remote role Key Skills and Capabilities Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated proficiency in conveying complex information to technical and non-technical stakeholders through verbal and written communication. 3+ years programming experience in Java using IntelliJ or comparable IDEs, Python, or C# / .NET using Microsoft Visual Studio, ASP.NET, and PowerShell. Preferably with additional knowledge of legacy programming languages like COBOL, Assembler, JCL, etc. Proven experience with Legacy modernization projects, particularly from z/OS and Unisys Mainframe environments. Familiarity and willingness to learn: - DevOps and build tools such as Azure DevOps, Maven, Jenkins - Container technologies like Docker, Kubernetes / AKS - Windows Server/Active Directory, Virtual Machines, Azure or AWS Cloud - Database systems including PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and other open databases Capability to lead smaller projects with supervision and conduct technical workshops as required. Ideal candidates possess knowledge of mainframe infrastructure and operations. Preferably experienced in maintaining large enterprise applications within legacy mainframe environments or previously engaged in legacy migration/modernization projects.
