Environmental Science Associates is hiring an Urban Planner – Community Planning

About the Role

This role involves leading and contributing to community planning initiatives, including land use studies, regulatory compliance, and public engagement efforts, with a focus on sustainable development and integrated environmental solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of comprehensive land use and community planning projects
  • Prepare environmental reviews and planning documents in compliance with regulations
  • Engage with public agencies, stakeholders, and community groups
  • Support zoning analysis, entitlement processes, and policy recommendations
  • Conduct site assessments and evaluate development feasibility
  • Assist in preparing master plans and urban design frameworks
  • Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams on integrated planning solutions
  • Draft reports, presentations, and technical memoranda
  • Facilitate public meetings and outreach initiatives
  • Analyze demographic and geographic data for planning decisions
  • Review development proposals for consistency with planning goals
  • Contribute to sustainability and resilience planning efforts
  • Manage project timelines and deliverables for multiple assignments
  • Provide input on environmental planning strategies
  • Work with consultants and external partners on joint initiatives
  • Support grant applications and planning-related funding proposals
  • Interpret planning regulations and municipal codes
  • Develop maps and spatial analyses using GIS tools
  • Assist in updating general plans and specific plans
  • Promote equitable development and community engagement practices
  • Evaluate transportation and infrastructure impacts
  • Integrate climate adaptation into planning projects
  • Prepare findings and recommendations for client review
  • Maintain quality standards across planning deliverables
  • Stay current with planning trends and regulatory changes
