UFG Insurance is hiring an Underwriting Associate to assist with underwriting insurance risks in accordance with the business plan and delegated authority. In this role, you will provide technical underwriting and administrative support to ensure timely processes and serve agents and insureds.
What You'll Do
- Analyze underwriting information to triage, prepare, and respond to quotes, renewals, policy endorsements, or inquiries within your assigned authority.
- Apply underwriting guidelines and ensure compliance with company filings, rules, and regulations.
- Underwrite and process all endorsement requests within your assigned letter of authority.
- Execute pricing strategy independently and document pricing decisions to meet regulatory requirements.
- Proactively identify and execute opportunities to upsell and cross-sell UFG coverages and products.
- Document assigned files with quality underwriting information aligned with business strategy.
- Screen new business submissions and create file documentation in appropriate systems.
- Provide comprehensive analysis and underwriting recommendations for decisions beyond your authority.
- Provide clear direction to support staff for policy changes, renewals, and quote entry.
- Work as a liaison between partner departments to resolve policy-level issues.
- Independently seek agency engagement to obtain missing information or clarify policy needs.
- Foster a collaborative relationship with assigned underwriters to achieve KPI metrics.
- Identify risks that require reinsurance and risk control services.
- Assist with portfolio review and analysis to ensure progress toward key business objectives.
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent
Nice to Have
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field
- Completion of, or working towards, CIC or AU designation
- 3 years of commercial property and casualty insurance experience
