Tam is hiring a Tutor II to provide routine academic instruction and support within the Academic Center for Excellence (ACE). This is a temporary, part-time position requiring on-campus, face-to-face interactions in Laredo, Texas to directly assist students.
What You'll Do
- Tutor students, individually and in groups, to facilitate learning of course material.
- Meet with students to review homework assignments and test scores, working through problems or questions.
- Identify specific topics or subject areas that require further exploration.
- Model effective learning and study strategies for content mastery.
- Provide study aids and may perform as a lead for other Tutors.
- Attend assigned classes and arrange consistent working hours at ACE.
- Develop and maintain a professional relationship with course instructors.
- Maintain confidential records and prepare reports.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree.
- Two years of relevant experience.
- You must not be currently enrolled as an undergraduate at TAMIU.
Nice to Have
- Experience working with college/university students in an educational setting.
- Tutoring experience in a specific content area.
- College Reading and Learning Association certified tutor level 1.
