The Director in Turnaround & Restructuring at AlixPartners will lead high-profile financial and operational restructuring engagements for companies in stressed or distressed situations. This role involves hands-on strategy development and execution across cash management, stakeholder negotiation, and operational improvement, often in interim management or board-level roles across international jurisdictions.
What You'll Do
- Drive improvements in finance teams during financial and operational restructuring situations
- Operate on a range of UK-based as well as international engagements
- Contribute to business generation efforts

- Deliver optimal outcomes for clients in distressed scenarios
- Develop and execute strategies across cash management, business planning, stakeholder management, negotiation, and operational improvement
- Take board and interim management roles such as Chief Restructuring Officer or Chief Transformation Officer
- Act as CFO in client engagements where appropriate
- Manage senior groups of stakeholders including ad-hoc lending groups, shareholders, and boards through distressed situations
- Lead liquidity management initiatives
- Manage distressed M&A processes
- Lead operational turnarounds and restructuring efforts
- Develop and model business plans
- Provide hands-on support for financial teams including Treasury and FP&A
What We're Looking For
- Relevant and hands-on project management experience in financial and/or operational restructuring
- Experience gained in restructuring advisory, Big 4 environment (or equivalent), private equity, banking or industry
- University degree
- Relevant post graduate qualification (e.g. Accounting)
- Demonstrable experience in company side financial advisory roles
- Demonstrable experience in managing senior groups of stakeholders (including ad-hoc lending groups, shareholder and boards) through distressed situations
- Demonstrable experience in liquidity management
- Demonstrable experience in distressed M&A processes
- Demonstrable experience in operational turnarounds/restructuring
- Demonstrable experience in business plan development and modelling
- Demonstrable experience in hands on support for financial teams including Treasury and FP&A support
- Strong financial analysis with a solid understanding of financial statements
- Ability to build integrated three statement models from scratch
- Experience in building and reviewing 13-week cash flows and managing liquidity
- Expertise in reviewing and building business plans and business plan models
- A track record of successfully managing senior stakeholders and other advisers
- Experience of supervising other professionals, acting as a positive role model and able to motivate others
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Managing and contributing to conversations with senior stakeholders such as board meetings and management committee meetings
- Advanced written communication skills, able to prepare well laid out, easily understood analysis and presentations
- Articulate communication of information, with audience-appropriate adaption
- Delivery of influential client communications with clarity and confidence
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Ability to build relationships with clients and peers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Willingness to work outside of normal business hours, and in particular as unique projects/needs arise
- Ability to work full time in an office and remote environment
