Southern California Edison is hiring a Transmission Planning Advisor to build a better tomorrow and power our planet. In this role, you will manage multiple projects while overseeing and preparing complex electrical designs for internal organizations and mentoring other Planners. Your work will directly contribute to reducing carbon emissions and creating cleaner air for everyone.
What You'll Do
- Support the company's electrical Transmission, Sub Transmission, and Distribution system by developing designs, identifying resources, and providing cost estimates for construction.
- Coordinate with internal staff to ensure projects are completed correctly, on time, and meet industry design standards and safety regulations.
- Oversee environmental permitting and planning efforts for government, internal, and private infrastructure projects.
- Provide direction, assess team workload and performance, provide training, and review design contractor packets and peer designs.
- Identify system risks, evaluate mitigation benefits, and provide design engineering, cost estimates, and project management for overhead and underground systems from inception to closing.
- Ensure project dates are met and monitor, forecast, and stay within the allocated division budget.
- Lead the review of planning and system performance studies for compliance with prevailing standards.
- Lead environmental planning and permitting with a multi-disciplinary team and serve as the single point of contact for Operations through the Construction phase.
- Create and maintain integral system circuit mapping for overhead and underground facilities.
- Perform field inspections to gather planning data, verify project compliance, and manage digital and geospatial records of assets for accuracy and reporting.
- Ensure the protection of all company assets and properly manage private customer data, proprietary information, and other sensitive data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.
What We're Looking For
- Five or more years of experience in Electrical Utility Distribution/Transmission/Telecommunication Design, Line Construction, or an Engineering discipline.
- Possession of a valid Class C Driver's License.
Nice to Have
- Experience preparing both distribution and Transmission work orders or construction plans.
- Thorough knowledge of engineering principles, construction standards, and industry practices.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Auto Desk Utility Design (AUD), SPIDA (or other Pole Loading programs).
- Experience determining scope of work, method of service, and construction methods for overhead and underground facilities.
- Experience managing multiple and/or sensitive projects, functioning under tight constraints, shifting priorities, and making critical decisions with minimal supervision.
- Experience using interpersonal skills to handle customer relations issues effectively.
