The City of Saskatoon is looking for a Traffic Signing and Painting professional to join our team. Under the supervision of the Supervisor VI, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, removing, and manufacturing signs, detours, and pavement markings across the city.
What You'll Do
- Assemble, install, remove, and maintain traffic, informational, and specialty signs and their support systems.
- Assemble, install, remove, inspect, and maintain traffic detours and crash barriers.
- Install, remove, and maintain parking meter posts.
- Participate in annual paint programs, including painting crosswalks, chevrons, and parking stalls, as well as graffiti control, bridge washing, and spray-booth painting.
- Evaluate existing signs and pavement markings.
- Assemble, install, remove, and maintain streetscape items.
- Operate and maintain related vehicles and equipment.
- Maintain daily work activity logs, material, and maintenance records.
- Install, remove, and maintain the river boom.
- Participate in shop and yard maintenance.
- Assist with sign manufacturing.
- Participate in the salvage of materials.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- A Grade 12 education.
- Successful completion of, or ability to complete, a recognized signing and detouring course.
- Two years’ related experience in public works construction and maintenance.
- Possession of a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver's Licence.
- Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
- Possession of a valid first aid certificate.
- Demonstrated ability to regularly and consistently attend work.
- Demonstrated knowledge of, and ability to follow, all applicable procedures and policies.
- Knowledge and skill in the use of equipment, materials, and techniques used in traffic control device installation and maintenance.
- Knowledge of practices and principles involved in the use of traffic control devices.
- Ability to read and comprehend engineering drawings related to sign, detour, pavement marking, and streetscaping installations.
- Ability to apply WHMIS health and safety standards.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Physical ability to perform the assigned duties under all weather conditions.
Team & Environment
You will report directly to the Supervisor VI (sign and paint shop).
Compensation
- The hourly wage range for this position is $28.70 to $30.85 CAD (2026 rates).
Work Mode
This is an on-site position located in Saskatoon.
