The City of Saskatoon is hiring for a Traffic Signing and Painting position. This is a temporary full-time role for approximately 6 months, where you will work under the supervision of the Supervisor VI to install, maintain, remove, and manufacture signs, detours, and pavement markings that keep our city safe and functional.
What You'll Do
- Assemble, install, remove, and maintain traffic, informational, and specialty signs and their support systems.
- Assemble, install, remove, inspect, and maintain traffic detours and crash barriers.
- Install, remove, and maintain parking meter posts.
- Participate in annual paint programs, including painting crosswalks, chevrons, and parking stalls, graffiti control, and bridge washing and sealing.
- Evaluate existing signs and pavement markings.
- Assemble, install, remove, and maintain streetscape items.
- Operate and maintain related vehicles and equipment.
- Maintain daily work activity logs and material records.
- Install, remove, and maintain the river boom.
- Participate in shop, yard maintenance, and material salvage.
- Assist with sign manufacturing.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Grade 12 education.
- Successful completion of, or ability to complete, a recognized signing and detouring course.
- Two years’ related experience in public works construction and maintenance.
- Possession of a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver's Licence.
- Current driver’s abstract from SGI demonstrating a safe driving record.
- Possession of a valid first aid certificate.
- Demonstrated ability to regularly and consistently attend work.
- Ability to follow all applicable procedures and policies.
- Knowledge and skill in the use of equipment, materials, and techniques for traffic control device installation and maintenance.
- Knowledge of practices and principles for using traffic control devices.
- Ability to read and comprehend engineering drawings for signs, detours, pavement marking, and streetscaping.
- Ability to apply WHMIS health and safety standards.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships and work with minimal supervision.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Physical ability to perform duties under all weather conditions.
Team & Environment
You will report directly to the Supervisor VI (sign and paint shop).
Benefits & Compensation
- Hourly wage: $28.70 to $30.85 CAD per hour (2026 rates).
Work Mode
This is an onsite position based in Saskatoon.
