Ford is hiring a Technology Scouting Manager to shape the future of mobility. In this role, you will monitor and analyze emerging automotive and adjacent technologies, translate trends into actionable strategies, and contribute directly to innovation pipeline development.
What You'll Do
- Continuously monitor and analyze emerging technologies in automotive and adjacent industries, including AI, EVs, autonomous driving, connectivity, materials, manufacturing, and sustainability.
- Develop technology radar updates and comprehensive insights reports for product concepting and the leadership team.
- Collaborate with product concepting teams and adjacent functions to translate tech trends into actionable strategies and plans.
- Recommend technology adoption or partnerships that align with business goals and the innovation roadmap.
- Support build vs. buy vs. partner decision-making.
- Build relationships with suppliers, technology partners, and startups.
- Participate in selected tech conferences, forums, and innovation events to exchange insights.
- Act as a bridge between technical and non-technical teams to drive clarity and alignment on technology initiatives.
- Support internal capability building by educating stakeholders on emerging tech and its implications.
- Contribute to tech and innovation pipeline development by identifying and recommending new initiatives.
- Work with the HCD and prototype teams to validate, pilot, and de-risk new technologies.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (an MBA is a plus).
- 7+ years of experience in technology management, R&D, or innovation roles within the automotive or mobility sectors.
- Deep understanding of automotive industry trends, including electrification, autonomous driving, and digital transformation.
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to connect emerging technologies with business impact.
- Experience working with cross-functional and global teams.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with regulatory and safety standards in the automotive industry.
- Experience evaluating technology partnerships.
- Prior work with technology foresight, roadmapping, or innovation frameworks.
