Zscaler seeks a Technical Writer to join our Technical Publications department. You will translate complex technical information into clear documentation and UI text, enhance content with visuals, and collaborate cross-functionally. In this role, you will also lead documentation standards and mentor team members.
What You'll Do
- Translate complex technical information into high-quality documentation and UI text—including release notes, tooltips, and error messages—for technical and non-technical audiences
- Enhance documentation usability and clarity by integrating strategic graphics, illustrations, and visual aids
- Collaborate cross-functionally with SMEs in Engineering, Field Support, Sales, and Product Marketing to ensure technical accuracy and content relevance
- Drive user experience by establishing documentation standards, style guides, and terminology for consistency
- Lead and mentor the technical writing team while overseeing project scheduling and management to ensure timely delivery
What We're Looking For
- U.S. citizenship
- 3+ years of technical writing experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field
- Demonstrated leadership through mentoring and the ability to influence cross-functional teams and project outcomes without formal authority
- Technical expertise in REST API documentation, with deep hands-on proficiency in OpenAPI Specification (Swagger) and JSON
- Advanced workflow management using JIRA and Confluence to track, manage, and deliver documentation projects
- Strategic, audience-centric approach to content, ensuring documentation aligns with the user's specific needs and technical level
Nice to Have
- Experience writing online help, knowledge base articles, and working in Agile environments
- Familiarity with network and/or cloud security, or web-based/mobile products
- Hands-on experience with HTML5 and CSS
