About the Role

The Technical Support Specialist I delivers hands-on assistance with desktop systems, software, and network access for users across the medical school and affiliated clinical sites. This position ensures smooth operation of IT services through troubleshooting, documentation, and coordination with higher-tier support teams.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to user-reported technical issues via phone, email, or in-person requests
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware and software malfunctions on desktops and laptops
  • Install, configure, and maintain workstations and peripheral devices
  • Support electronic medical record system access and related applications
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues on wired and wireless networks
  • Manage user accounts and permissions in directory services
  • Escalate complex technical problems to appropriate engineering teams
  • Document incidents and resolutions in the ticketing system
  • Maintain inventory of IT equipment and software licenses
  • Deploy systems remotely and on-site as needed
  • Assist with onboarding and offboarding of user accounts
  • Provide guidance on secure computing practices
  • Support mobile devices used in clinical environments
  • Follow change management procedures for system updates
  • Participate in after-hours on-call rotations
  • Assist with patching and updating operating systems
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy and security policies
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams during system outages
  • Conduct basic performance tuning of end-user devices
  • Educate users on self-help tools and common fixes

Physical Requirements
