Leicestershire County Council is looking for a Technical Specialist with a focus on Cyber Security to strengthen our cyber resilience. You will work within our Applications Management or Digital Services Teams to develop, manage, and consult on applications and websites for citizens, officers, and external parties.
What You'll Do
- Support the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of cyber security controls across the Council’s IT infrastructure and systems.
- Build strong working relationships across IT and business teams, communicating security and risk concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Maintain awareness of emerging threats, vulnerabilities and cyber security trends, contributing to staff awareness activities and training delivery.
- Gather user requirements and transpose them into application or website builds, with scalability in mind.
- Ensure maintenance of technical platforms for security vulnerability.
- Troubleshoot issues and implement changes and fixes.
- Document solutions for future support and training.
What We're Looking For
- Proficient experience in development tools or an aptitude to learn these new skills based on prior development experience.
- Experience of various coding languages or the ability to learn these (e.g. HTML, CSS, Javascript and PHP).
- Results oriented individual, customer focussed, able to work independently and under pressure.
- Ability to communicate technical ideas to service users and other teams.
- Understanding of the importance of maintaining platforms and systems with the latest security updates.
- Ability to think critically and challenge solution design in line with best practices and platform limitations.
- Excellent team player able to work closely with colleagues internally and externally.

Benefits & Compensation
- Salary: £28,605 - £39,165 per annum (pro rata for part time).
