What You'll Do
Design and implement engaging game mechanics in collaboration with developers and designers. You'll build and maintain server-side logic using PHP, ensuring robust performance across different platforms and devices. Play a key role in refining backend systems, working with both MongoDB and MySQL to optimize data flow and architecture.
Integrate and experiment with AI-assisted development tools—including LLMs like Claude and Codex—to accelerate refactoring, improve code quality, and increase productivity. Participate in code reviews, testing, and debugging to uphold strong engineering standards. Work directly with stakeholders to shape technical specifications and advance project timelines.
Requirements
- At least three years of full-stack development experience with PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Hands-on experience with MongoDB or MySQL
- Firm grasp of object-oriented programming and common design patterns
- Understanding of scalable web application architecture
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across disciplines
- Passion for games and a track record of solving complex technical challenges
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline
- Legal authorization to work in Canada and current residency in British Columbia
Preferred Qualifications
Experience applying AI coding assistants—such as Copilot, Cursor, or Codex—in real-world development workflows to enhance code quality and efficiency.
Benefits
The annual salary range for this role is $85,000 to $102,000, with actual offers based on experience, skill level, and fit within company goals—most candidates land near the midpoint. This is a remote-first position, but you must reside in British Columbia.
